Have you ever wondered what Snupu's funding consists of?
And how the entry fees for Snupu events cover only a fraction of the actual cost of the event?
This is made possible by the grants awarded to the organisation, which are applied for annually by the volunteer board members.
Our biggest supporter for several years now has been the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation. The grants awarded by the Foundation for maritime youth work have significantly reduced the financial barrier for young people to participate in sailing events both in Finland and internationally.
Currently, the average support rate for basic members, i.e. those under 29 years of age, is 70%. This means that a young person only has to pay less than a third of the actual cost of the event!
In addition to the grant from the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation, the organisation has received an operating grant from the City of Turku's Culture and Youth Committee for the 2024 season.
Quite simply, without annual supporters, Snupu's work and mission would not be possible as we know it today.
For this reason, the young volunteers are also constantly looking for new sponsors to ensure that sail training activities in Finland will continue to be accessible to all young people in the future!
